While New Bern has from its conception, been a place of importance, its greatest achievements are yet to come. Its geographical position has much to do with its future greatness, as coming developments will demonstrate. Her close proximity to natures great highways: the rivers, sounds and the sea, will always maintain for New Bern an equable freight rate, while the construction of railroads and rapid transit lines will provide a transportation system second to no city in the United States.
