15 March 1860--Bonds signed by Thomas Williams and Amos Wade for free girls of color named Mary Ann Harris and Betsy Harris apprenticed to Thomas Williams. [The apprentice indentures are not with the bonds.]

17 March 1860--Bond signed by John B. Wallace and David W. Bell for free boy of color named Alexander Gordan apprenticed to John B. Wallace. [The apprentice indentures are not with the bonds.]

11 June 1860--Henry Keel, an orphan aged about 11 years, bound to Anson H. Brite as a farmer.

12 June 1860--Betty Keys, "a coulered girl" aged 11 years, bound to David P. Whitford as a weaver. The bond was signed on 13 June 1860 by David P. Whitford and Nathan Whitford. The bond also indicates the child's name was "Elizabeth or Betty."

12 June 1860--Stephen Keys, a colored boy aged 5 years, bound to David P. Whitford as a farmer. The bond was signed 13 June 1860 by David P. Whitford and Nathan Whitford. The bond also spelled the last name as Keese.j

15 June 1860--Bond signed by Samuel R. Street and Nathaniel H. Street for a free boy of color named Jacob Copes apprenticed to Samuel R. Street. [The apprentice indenture is not with the bond.]

11 September 1860--Bond signed by Thomas Purify for a free girl of color (not named) bound to him. [The apprentice indenture is not with the bond.]

12 December 1860--Geo. W. Lewis, orphan aged 11 years, bound to Tillman [Tilmon] F. Woodard as a farmer.

14 December 1860--Bond signed by Marcus L. Downing and Alexander Meadows for a free girl of color named Mary Frances Clark apprenticed to Downing. [The apprentice indenture is not with the bond.]

1861

12 March 1861--John T. Spencer, an orphan aged 11 years, bound to Joshua Taylor as a farmer.

12 March 1861--Thurman Spencer, an orphan aged 16 years, bound to Joshua Taylor as a farmer.

12 March 1861--Lewis Richard Stanly, an orphan aged 14 years, bound to Elias B. Wood as a harness maker.

13 March 1861--Bond signed by George A. Richardson and Joachim Griffin for a free boy of color named John Levi apprenticed to Richardson. [The apprentice indenture is not with the bond.]

13 March 1861--Nancy Levi, a free girl of color aged 14 years, bound to George A. Richardson as a farmer. Bond signed by Richardson and Joachim Griffin.

13 March 1861--Lewis Johnson, "a Negro boy" aged 7 years, bound to John Casey as a farmer. The bond was signed by John Casey and F.P. Latham.

11 June 1861--Elizabeth Moseley, a free girl of color aged 14 years, bound to Henry McIntosh as a seamstress.

10 December 1861--Martha Hodge, a free girl of color aged 4 years, bound to Cason I. Gibbs as a spinster. The bond was signed by Gibbs and F.B. Miller.

24 January 1866--Luther Sparrow, aged 14 years and son of Lettis Sparrow, colored, bound to Leonidas J. Moore.

1 February 1866--Susan Simmons, orphan aged 11 years, bound to Jas. A. Noyes.

5 February 1866--Lewis Chapman, aged 12 years and son of Charity Chapman, colored, bound to John C. Lee.

17 March 1866--Warren Thompson, an orphan aged 12 years, bound to T.H. Mallison.

4 April 1866--John Allen, orphan aged 10 years, bound to Charles F. Harget.

23 April 1866--Simon Smith, aged 10 years, and Mary Jane Washington, aged 8 years, orphans, bound to W.A. Ballenger.

24 April 1866--Lewis Magnolia, orphan aged 8 years, and Hette Latham, orphan aged 7 years, bound to W.A. Ballenger.

24 April 1866--Tony Connega [Kornegay?], aged 9 years, and Isom Boyiken [Boykin?], aged 7 years, bound to F.M. Harper.

27 April 1866--Garret Thornton, orphan aged 9 years, bound to Furney F. Jackson.

27 June 1866--Amos Ould, orphan aged 7 years, bound to Jacob P. Harper and to pay $50 when he turns 21.

27 June 1866--Mary Ward, orphan aged 7 years, bound to Jacob P. Harper and to pay $25 when she turns 18.

10 September 1866--Miles Williams, an orphan aged 13 years, bound to H.T. Richardson as a farmer.

15 September 1866--Oliver Tripp binds himself for 2 years to Joseph J. Roberson. [Reverse of the indenture has a date of 15 September 1867.]

15 September 1866--James Allen, colored, binds himself for 1 year to Joseph J. Roberson.

15 September 1866--Jacob Magruder, colored, binds himself for 1 year to George Green.

13 December 1866--James Collins, an orphan aged 7 years, bound to Joseph L. Rhem as a farmer.

13 December 1866--Frank Collins, an orphan aged 9 years, bound to Joseph L. Rhem as a farmer.

13 December 1866--Margaret Collins, an orphan aged 10 years, bound to Joseph L. Rhem as a spinster.

13 December 1866--Columbus [no last name but probably Collins], an orphan aged 12 years, bound to Joseph L. Rhem as a farmer.
