Computer Classes

| Introductory Internet:
This one-day, one-hour introductory class on computers and the internet is
for absolute beginners and the pace is slow. Students will learn mouse basics, Internet searching, and using the library online catalog. |
Internet: Beginning and Intermediate:
This two-day, two hour class on the Internet is for beginning or
intermediate level computer users. Students in the basic class will learn mouse basics, Internet searching, e-mail, and the library online catalog. Students in the intermediate class will learn copying and pasting, troubleshooting, and Internet security in addition to the basic subjects. |
| Introduction to the Library Online Catalog: In this one-hour, one-day class, students will learn how to find library materials using the online catalog. Students will also learn how to renew and reserve library materials online. | Introduction to Microsoft Word: This two-day, two hour class on Microsoft Word will teach students formatting techniques; copying/cutting and pasting; tabs, margins, and indentations. Familiarity with the mouse and keyboard is recommended. |
| Introduction to Electronic Mail (e-mail): This one-day, one hour class will teach students how to set up and use an e-mail account at Yahoo! | Introduction to eBay®: In this one-hour, one-day class, students will learn the basics of eBay®, buying and selling, feedback, PayPal, and security issues. Students should be familiar with the mouse and keyboard. |
| Intermediate eBay®: In this one-hour, one-day class, students will learn about My eBay® and selling on eBay®. An eBay® account is required. Students should bring in the item that they wish to sell (or a description of it). Also, students can bring in an image on diskette, CD, or USB drive. | Introduction to NC-LIVE: In this one-hour, one-day class, students will learn how to use NC-LIVE, which offers free access to magazines, newspapers, and electronic texts. There will be a discussion of NetLibrary (e-books and e-audiobooks). Familiarity with the mouse and keyboard is recommended. |
