Historical Pageant, 2:00 P. M.

THE FOUNDING OF NEW BERN.

This pageant will represent the arrival of the Swiss and German settlers in 1710, their reception and welcome by the Indian chief, King Taylor, their negotiations for the purchase of a site for their settlement, their unfortunate quarrel with the Indians, the outbreak of hostilities, the attack by the Indians, the capture and trial before the Council of Warriors of Baron de Graffenried and John Lawson, Surveyor of the Colony, and the execution of Lawson at the stake. The whole will be under the auspices of the orders of Redmen and Woodmen of the World who will carry it into execution with the most realistic effects. The nageant will be followed by a street parade, including war dances, etc., by the Redmen.

TUESDAY, JULY 26TH.

Bi-Centennial Parade, 10:00-12:00 A. M.
A floral and industrial parade and carnival, pageant,

illustrating the industrial life of modern times. Advertising floats will be admitted subject to the approval of the committee. Prizes are offered for the four best floats. The parade will be under the direction of the Chief Marshal.

Boat Races, 3:00-6:00 P. M.
Fisherman canoe rowing race—one mile.
Indian dug-out skiffs, paddling race—200 yards.
Launches—cabin, over 30 feet—handicap, triangular course.

THURSDAY, JULY 28TH.
 

Historical Tableaux, 8:30-9:30 P. M.
These tableaux will be scenes from the history of New Bern, presented from a large platform on Neuse River off the foot of East Front Street. Under the auspices of the Woman’s Club of New Bern.

Illuminated Parade and Fireworks on Water— 9:30-10:30 P. M.
This will be an illuminated parade of water craft, at which prizes are offered for the best decorated craft. The parade will be at night on Trent and Neuse rivers, and will be followed by a grand display of fire­works on water at the foot of Broad Street. Under the auspices of George N. Ives, Chairman.
