Description: |
Typeset Bill of Credit issued by North Carolina with narrow borders on the sides and bottom, each with the inscription “Death to counterfeit.”, wide border on left edge with inscription “IIS./ vid.” Printed inscription: “North Carolina. No [illegible]/ [II S. VI D.] two shilling, and six pence./ Proclamation Money, according to Act/ of Assembly, passed the 23d of April/ 1761/ ( iis. wid.) Death to counterfeit (2s. 6d.).” The bill was signed by John Swann, Samuel Swann, John Starkey and Lewis DeRosset. Bill folded in quarters on one vertical and one horizontal crease.
