Instructions for Reserving an Item

Use the following steps to place a reserve on an item. To remove a reserve skip to step 9.

  1.  Direct your internet browser to the online catalog (www.cpclib.org).

  2. Perform a search for an item, then click on the title you wish to reserve.

  3. To the right of the screen, click on "Request Item" to reserve the next available item for that title.

  4. If you are not logged-in, a screen will appear asking you to enter your "Borrower I.D. and PIN"  This is your 10-digit library card number and your personal ID number (defaults to your last four digits of your telephone number). Enter this number and press "Login".

  5. The Request Confirmation Page appears with information about the item you are requesting. Be sure to select which library you would like to visit to PICK-UP your item. To do this, click the small arrow beside "Select Pickup Location" and then click on the library of your choice. Also, enter any comments, such as alternative telephone numbers, if necessary.

  6. At the bottom of the Request Confirmation Page, press "Request."

  7. A screen will appear telling your place in the request queue and also tells when your request will expire (usually one year from the date you place the reserve). Click on "Return to Searching" to perform another search to place another reserve or click on "Logout and Return" if you are finished placing reserves.

  8. When the item is available for you, an employee from the library will call the telephone number on your record. If your number has changed, please call the Circulation Department (252) 638-7800 to correct your telephone number.

  9. If you place a reserve on the wrong book or decide that you no longer need the item that you requested, you can also remove reserves online. Direct your browser to the online catalog (www.cpclib.org).

  10. Click on "My Account" on the screen. If you are not logged in, enter your 10-digit library card number as your ID and enter your PIN number, then press "Login."

  11. Click "Hold Requests", near the center of the screen.

  12. A list of items that you have requested appears. To delete a request, click in the box beside the titles you want deleted. This will place a check mark in the box.

  13. Press "Cancel Requests" to complete the task.

  14. Press "Logout" at the top-right of the screen to end your session.
