Jade Dragon Mountain

The Libraries of the Craven-Pamlico-Carteret Regional Library are celebrating the 2017 Total Eclipse by hosting a community read. The New Bern-Craven County Public Library has planned several events to celebrate the August 21st eclipse. Check with the other CPC Libraries to see what events they have planned.

Residents of the community are invited to read Elsa Hart's mystery, Jade Dragon Mountain. Trouble abounds when the Emperor travels across the country to command a solar eclipse. Copies of the book will be available on the Browser Book shelf for check out, or electronically through OverDrive.

Staff members will conduct a book discussion in the Library Auditorium on August 24 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

The Library invites the public to attend several other eclipse related events leading up to the eclipse and book discussion. During these events, special solar eclipse viewing glasses will be given to participants (one per family) while supplies last.

The Monday Movie on August 14 from 7:00-8:45 p.m. is Little Shop of Horrors. Remember what happens when you buy an unusual plant during a solar eclipse? Come rock with us as we enjoy this little blast from the past featuring an all-star 80’s cast. This movie is rated PG-13. Children under thirteen must be accompanied by an adult. Auditorium

Join Physics and Astronomy Instructor Jason Perry from Lenoir Community College on August 17 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. as he discusses the August 21st solar eclipse and explains how to watch it safely.
